Looking to spend your spring break with the family in Spokane, Washington? Well, we have news for you. You’re going to need to add a few days with all of the incredible things there are to do in the Spokane area. We’re talking about the type of activities that involve nature and getting inspired. Your family is going to see glorious views that range from amazing art to sights that require you to put your fear of heights on the back burner. Spokane will also comfort you and treat you well thanks to the great people there. You will not have to worry about your family's safety while you’re out and about. Without further adieu, to all Inland Northwesterners looking to flock to the Lilac City, here are some of the best spring break ideas for families around Spokane, Washington. 

John A. Finch Arboretum

The Finch Arboretum is 65 acres of gorgeous, tree riddled, wooded hills. You can really find some good peace and quiet here for when the trip can become overwhelming. Let your inner biologist free and go searching for breeds of plants that can only be found in Spokane. It will really get your mind off of stress. Sometimes connecting with nature is even more fun than connecting with others! Plus, you can connect with nature for free. Just to give you an idea of the landscapes, you can expect to find anything from native pine forests, to shady, rhododendron filled, glens. Make sure to take some photos for later!

Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture

At the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, you and the family can learn about diversity and historas you travel through. It is actually a really famous museum, so you know you are going to have a good time. This makes for a great few hours to kill with the kids. There are many opportunities to not only view spectacular emblems of history, but to engage with as well. There are 5 exhibit galleries and the Campbell House Activity Center located at this museum, so just know that you might be spending a lot of your day here. Go ahead and experience history the way you should!

Spokane Falls

This is a must! Good news - it is really close to the Riverfront Park. This is the second largest urban waterfall in the country. The rivers all combine in Riverfront Park and it all drops below the Monroe Street Bridge. There is an abundance of viewing spots that will allow you to get a unique view from virtually all angles. If you have enough time, grab lunch at a local hot-spot such as Anthony’s for some classic seafood and a beautiful view. The Centennial Trail is popular for hiking, running & cycling and runs aside the Spokane River. For the active family, this trail offers stunning views for a post-meal jaunt or a morning bike ride. Explore and discover one of the true tranquilities in all of the Northwest – Spokane Falls. 

Manito Park

Nobody goes to Spokane, Washington during spring break without visiting the Manito Park. It is just one of the most gorgeous places! This little slice of heaven offers 90 acres of playgrounds, maintained lawns, walking and biking paths, a wide variety of flowers, a greenhouse observatory, and many picture-perfect gardens. You will be astonished at the upkeep. It also makes for a great place to visit when wrapping your trip up. The peace and quiet will wind you down and have you ready to gear up for heading home. 


Obviously, this is only a handful of things to do in Spokane, Washington. We had to leave out all of the wonderful cuisine and shops to visit so you can experience it for yourself. Hopefully, this can give you a grand idea of what adventurous things you and your family can take advantage of. Check out concerts at the Spokane Arena, see a Gonzaga Baseball game, or head out to Coeur d’Alene for the day. In this gorgeous area, there are plenty of family activities around the lake. For thrill-seekers, check out local boating rental shops – jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards, and more. Or, hang out on the lake for the day and just soak in the views. Downtown CDA has a plethora of fun little shops for trinket collectors, and plenty of great food. If you find yourself in a stump of what to do around Spokane, try asking some of the old-time locals. They will have no problem showing off their great town! And most all of, enjoy the time with your family and the stay-cation. Cheers to a well-deserved break!
